Hi. I have this 1987 D penny that looks like alot of the letters and also the date and maybe even Lincolns face may have some doubling. I am new to this and would like to know if this is doubling and if it is, what kind of doubling is it. Thanks.

It is called Die Deterioration Doubling. As the die wears out, the details on the coin take on this appearance.

Thanks,

Just to add one more thing, the plating is split on the mint mark and that can give it a "doubled" appearance as well with the two-tone contrast.
