Hello, I was just looking at some wheaties and I found this 1957, I am not very familiar with what it could be and if so what would be my next step if it is an error.

Appears to be 'old', dried glue or similar substance. Try a long soak in 100% acetone.

Crud build up on coin surface maybe. Looks like putty or something, no idea.

I agree with the dried glue - you can see the backwards "R" in it like another cent was glued to it at one time.

It does look like a struck fragment, but the letter R is reversed.

Try soaking it in pure acetone and see what happens.
