A "Colt's Patent" Counterstamp On An 1837 Large Cent

This is one of two listed/known COLT'S PATENT stampings on a coin. Samuel Colt used this stamp on his firearms and bullet molds as pictured below. The other coin is an 1838 large cent. Matching the coin marks to the products is often essential to confirming a positive attribution.

These counterstamps likely date to the 1840's or later. Below is shown an early bullet mold with the same stamp ....
