I've had coins turn out like this by carrying them for an extended period in my jeans pocket. The ones I just checked in my pocket are all still nice and shiny, so my guess is that it happens when a 'dirty' coin is mixed in with a 'clean' bunch, and 'infects' the other coins over time. ?

@end, I'm not seeing any of the bubbling that occurs when clad coins are heated to high temps, no I don't think that it has been burned. As others have mentioned, the color is consistent with environmental exposure.
