I did some research trying to see if an old thread has been posted on this, but nothing surfaced.

I have:
1967 ICCS MS-66 (business strike or circulation)
1967 PCGS PL-67 (from the cellophane PL sets)
1967 ICCS SP-67 (from the gold specimen sets)
1967 PCGS PR-67 - this one confuses me.

All 4 of my coins have rainbow toning so it's tough to determine the difference between the specimen, proof like and proof strikes .

My question is, what exactly is the proof strike? Is it a PCGS thing that is the equivalent to the ICCS specimen?

They started calling Specimen proof in 1965 for all specimen issues except for the 1968-1969 dollars and resumed calling them specimen in 1970

I believe that PCGS calls the dollars from the red and black box sets - proof.

The coins from the pliofilm mint sets get PL and MS designations.
