I have find a 1969 D is a mint set with glue or wax all over the coin the coin seem it has a hard time at the mint. The strike though is between the rim and the letter B and I with there being some wax or glue between the letter E

@lam, from these pics, it looks like there is some material (like clear wax or grease) that is on the surface of the coin still. Is that right?

@Lamont2655 Perhaps an acetone bath would help. Nice close-up pictures. Could we have a picture of the whole coin?

To CCF! Try giving it a soak in pure acetone and see if it goes away.

Maybe a sneezer with rim damage. Give up on it.

Lamont2655,

I do not see how glue or wax would get on a coin in the mint,if anything it might be clear grease.
With all the damage on the coin you could experiment on it with acetone. It still has silver value but no collector value.

to the CCF You say it's in a mint set. Is the black foam in the pictures part of the packaging? If it is, that's not a government package. It's a third party package. No telling where the coins came from.

does not look like a strike through to me. Strike throughs do not bring up a coins value unless it is very dramatic, like half of a coin. and This coin being so incredibly damaged, I would not have given it a second thought. (but that is just me, mind you).
