Looks like a die chip/ dent perhaps and/or a ding on the coin from circulation.

Pictures look just fine to me, but I'm in agreement that this is damage rather than a mint error.

Is that "little tail" from the incuse "O" raised or incuse also?
EDIT: I see you call it a BLOB but just making sure. IF it is raised then it will be a die chip or die dent/scratch. If incuse then just a dent on the coin itself.

Working with the OP's posted pictures I see what appears to be the Gouge running " Through " the Letter O itself. Almost a Struck-Through Like struck coin... If it is a " ding ", Would the Apparent direction of the " ding ", Heading North-West, leave a Foot print, in the Incused Area, I can barely see it, and It can be Barely seen Reconnecting Above the Incused Mark, rejoining the Details of the coins Reverse... ( in the Blown up Picture ). I would have Loved, to of seen This coin after it Was Struck!!! Just my opinion, Thanks for Posting Here.... MD. PS, Could you post a Picture of What Ever is going on in the word Homestead, The Last letter D . :)

Quote: My vote is ding. That is probably why the "O" is flattened right there too - metal movement (from the probable ding)

All I see here are circulation hits next to incuse devices.
