I am very unsure of inspecting for doubled dies on coins-even on photos of coins that have be verified and listed. LIBERTY appears somewhat different on this coin...especially the B and lesser to the E and R.There is a variety as such with this cent, but it doesn't look exactly like the "verified" ones. I would assume that greater wear could come into play here. What about it?

@gigi, here is a link to the one known DDO for this year/mint so that you can compare those pics with your coin in hand:

I'm not seeing it, but after you research that link that was given to you, please report back with your findings.

Thar's just the problem. As compared to other 2016 cents I've looked at, it looks different. However I can't say that it looks exactly like the one you linked to. It's just too nebulous in my mind at this point. Maybe I'll get better at this. Can anyone hold my hand on this and tell me exactly how I would tell that it is not. I'm leaning toward is even after carefully comparing the photos.

For example, I think this photo just shows bad Die Deterioration, especially on the initials, but I could be totally wrong

It's normal. The letters are normal in size. Usually, there would be notching, extra thickness, or separation of the devices.

Gigi2,
There are 9 classes of doubled dies we all need to learn: https://conecaonline.org/the-9-clas...oubled-dies/
Your photo has a lot of glare on it which makes it much harder to learn because of light induced doubling. You need to filter your light first off.

Hopefully this helps. See below for three examples of the letter T. The first two are cropped from images from that varietyvista link. The first one shows a T from TRUST, which is not doubled, while the second one shows a T from LIBERTY, which exhibits "Medium extra thickness on LIBERTY" according to the entry on vv. Finally, the last picture is of your T from LIBERTY. Do you see how yours is much closer to the first pic (normal) compared to the second pic (doubled)? It is subtle, but by focusing just on this one letter, I think that the doubled letter is more evident.

Thanks all for helping.
Spence, your photos really showed the comparisons well and took some time to do I'm sure. An extra "thank you, thank you" to you.

Glad to help @gigi. That is literally why this site exists. And soon enough, you'll be the graybeard explaining things to the next wave of noobs.
