Help-Identifying-Coin-2-Heads?
Hi. Can anyone help with this coin -it seems to have a queen's head on one side and a kings head on the other. Kings head side possibly days William?

I am pretty sure this is Roman. There are quite a few instances where emperors issued coins with the emperor on one side and his wife on the other. Maybe Septimus Severus as the Emperor?
It is certainly not British, so maybe get this thread transferred to the Ancients?

Thanks PaddyB. Is there a slick way of doing that?

I think if you click on the tab in the corner marked "report this post to staff" you can request a transfer.

Roman Provincial
Best guess .. Asia Minor
Stylistically first half of third century (AD 220-250)
As the legend is nearly non-existent the only 'determinant' would be the portraits
In this case really silhouettes !

Very definitely an empress
My first hunch was one of the Julia's (Severan dynasty) but I think it more likely either Otacilla Severa (Philip the Arab) or Herennia Etruscilla (Trajan Decius)
The male figure certainly resembles Septimius but I think it likely a local variant of Zeus
Municipal coinage often celebrates a local city deity (Tyche) or even a nearby temple complex

Roman Provincials give a great variety of types and the portraits can be somewhat difficult to ID

Maybe Septimus Severus

Maybe. Just for comparison, a few Provincials from Cilicia that feature a curved shape at the base of the female bust. With no dimensions and weight provided for the OP coin, impossible to know if these are close or way off base.

Thanks for the recent replies. Would it be rude to ask the coin's approx value...?

Pretty rough condition this one
A coin is really never worth more than what some 'darn' fool will pay for it !

In this case .
Less than a cup of coffee would be fairly accurate
Best kept as a conversation piece
It's definitely 3rd century
Almost certainly from Asia Minor
Almost certainly a Roman Empress
More than that ?

Lacking definite attribution and being that worn, I can't imagine it retailing for more than a few dollars.
