The 1st quarter in question.

Did this happen at the mint or after? Looks like a significant error to me.

The 2nd quarter looks like a die chip error to me? Or is it just some type of discoloration?

@dav, first welcome to CCF. Second, with regard to your first coin, that is all mechanical damage--not a mint error. For your second coin, it looks like dried adhesive that has turned a brownish-yellow. These are both spenders for me.

To CCF! Both have been damaged after they left the U.S. Mint. PMD. No errors.

Not an error coin; 100% damaged once it got in "the wild".
