Good afternoon everyone and I hope you are all doing well on this Friday. The purpose of this post is more of a FYI to the newer members like myself. I started getting the 50 State Quarters subscription in October 2001 according to my receipts. and I still have some of the original unopened rolls. Over the years I stopped many of my subscriptions fall by the wayside just picking up pieces here and there, but whenever I did I left them in the box and never opened them must less check the contents inside. I did that same practice until the Morgan peace reverse proof came out last November 2023. I just assumed that they were all good and the coins would be perfect. Well that was flawed thinking and by the time I looked at the reverse proof set and saw a flaw it was after the 7 day window like maybe two weeks and you would have thought that I was trying to rob them. I had my receipt but they would not let me exchange the flawed coin for another. The 7 days was over, and that was it, anything else if not have a nice day. Since that time I have found a 2022 proof ASE that was flawed and a spot on one my 2021 ASEs all from mint subscriptions. So when you get your coins pull out your media to check your coins and check them obverse to reverse taking your time as you go. Thanks in advance for reading my little blurb and enjoy your day. Th epic with the year on the ASE has a lot of trash so iI opened it and took the other pics and I think the green susbstance might be grease or some other foreign material. I know I am not the only one that has this problem post your flaws if possible.

@John1, I purchased a Elikliv HDMI Microscope, Model EDM401 Max from Amazon on Black Friday of last year and it has great resolution. when I use my HP laptop it actually looses a lot compared to the color of the microscope.

@87monte77 Good point to emphasize. Quality control problems seem to be growing.

@ Sharks, in my case there is no quality control, nada, none. I understand at the end of the day The United States Mint has a policy in place that states you have 7 days to review your purchase and handle whatever arises and I am 100% responsible for checking my coins. But Gee Wizz, the ASE is one of the Flagship coins of the U.S. Mint. I purchased the 2024 W Proof ASE, from the United States mint on 01/15/2024 and I had to ship it back because it had spots in the field and a blemish on the obverse. The 2023 W United States Mint ASE Proof Coin I purchased on 003/03/2023 has spotting on both the obverse and the reverse that can be seen with the naked eye that I am posting two additional pictures of . Now, it stands to reason if I am getting several bad coins then how many others are getting sub-par coins.

And the hits keep on coming I am still going through my coins and I opened a 2023 P uncirculated Peace dollar and it has a terrible smudge in the field which can be seen with naked eye to the right of L in LIBERTY, it is very bad.

I am glad to be one of those people who cannot leave a box unopened!

Not trying to kick you while you are down, but why didn't you check? I check all my mint coins as soon as I get them. I had 1 with a blemish and it was returned.

@jbuck, I used to be like that ... Lol. And @hfjacinto, To be honest my coins were on the back burner, I still have unopened rolls of State Quarters from 2001, Life changes, things happen those coins were at the bottom of my pile literally and figuratively . I was collecting some coins but I wasn't a collector evolving with the hobby. To use and old saying I had too many irons in the fire and my dang coins melted and its all my fault... Lol... But, hopefully this can be a teaching tool for someone else . Now, for my next coin, I have the other 2023 S Peace Silver Proof Dollar I purchased and from what I can see of this coin it has the same rash on the cheek as the other coin but when I took it out of focus a tad it looked as though it may be a high spot, almost like you are doing body work and you have a high spot that needs to be sanded down after you put on some body filler and when you look at some of the hair it looks as though there are high spots that should be sanded down also.. If the light is different you would not see the rash as much and that is why I moved the coin around to cast different light aspects and shadowing on the coin.
