I hope I don't wear out my welcome with too many posts on grading and certification. I am still looking for guidance and opinions on the grades of several coins and if they should be slabbed. I have several older quarters and a Twenty Cents piece. I will place each one in a new topic post.
This one is the 1875-S Seated Liberty 20c coin. Grade? Certification yes or no?

Looks like a decent VG-10 to me.

Remember a coin needs a retail value after slabbing of at least $150 to justify all costs involved in sending it in.

It is an attractive looking coin for this issue. The issue is that the shield is obliterated with none of the details showing. Moreover, there seem to be a number of dark marks on the shield that appear to be intentional damage that occurred a while ago. I don't think this is a candidate for slabbing imho. I would purchase a few acrylic 2x2 holders and label the "Your Father's Coin Collection" and make it a family keepsake.

Original VG. Shield is always weak on 20 cents.

Actual wear probably puts it close to VF. Strike weakness puts it at VG. I'd have no problem calling it F12. Not worth grading IMO.

Shield detail almost looks damaged. Below average eye appeal for the grade.

May not be able to tell with the condition, but check the MM very closely for signs of S over S RPM.

It looks too good for G6, but that's what it might get if you send it in. That's not to say you should send it in.
