Got a roll of a bunch of 2023 shield cents and noticed this guy in there. Looks like it could be plating or Cud issue. Weighs 2.58 however so curious here e Edited by coinhusker26 02/24/2024 11:56 pm

Excuse the dogs hair lol. I have 3 German pointers and those little ones are second nature at this point.

Last picture seems to be a die chip along the rim?

Your coin looks similar to the one in this thread.... " 2019-P Lincoln Incomplete Plating Error".... http://goccf.com/t/406702

It does look very similar imo, just different placement. Thanks for that link

that this could be a plating error, but what you are possibly calling a chip on the rim (did you mean edge?) well it looks like a dent to me on the edge?

The part on the reverse under the shield looks like it is filled in and raised, not indented but I may be wrong because the obverse beside the date looks to be opposite, and missing the copper. I had to use my hand scope so it is not the best.

This is an example of pre-strike, post-plating planchet damage. Completely different from a case of incomplete electroplating.

There's always some term or excuse for every thing it's quite comical. But it matches the 2019 almost identical so I'm holding it.

Seems to be common assumption between a lot of members that everyone is just looking to scalp on ebay for some reason. I've never listed a coin and never plan on it. Any thing I find gets put in a folding card case and put with all my other ones.

Nice find. I have the same issue on an extra v I picked up last year. In hand it looks like the second pic you posted. I wasn't sure what kind of error it was. Good to have clarification on what it is. I thought it may be a plating issue also but now we know there was a different cause. Your pics look better but here's the one I have
