Hello,
Found this Washington quarter in my change the other day. Any idea what could have happened to it?

@dina, first welcome to CCF. Second, your quarter has been ground down, perhaps on purpose, to remove the design on the back of the coin. Fun to look at, but no premium for this.

To CCF! It's been sanded/grinded down. It's not an error. PMD. Just a spender.

Technically, it isn't even a spender any more. The coin has been "mutilated" to the extent that it has probably lost enough weight to be rejected by a vending machine. Such coins are no longer legal tender.

Whatever was originally on the reverse of this coin, somebody really didn't like it being there. And chose violence.

Abraded reverse, yes. These come through the forum--various years and denominations--once a week or so.
