Can anyone tell me if this can be saved I have looked at it several ways and saw 1944 it's magnetic weighs 2.7 but can it be saved?

I'm with Cujohn, it's almost certain that this is a '43. The rust and corrosion have made it impossible to tell if it's a 4 or a misshapen 3. Someone with the right tools may be able to check the measurements of the devices and compare them the '43 and '44 for a definitive answer on the date.

I would think that this coin is far too gone for any kind of restoration.

Agree with all above. A closer-in, very sharp pic of the date would be useful. What does the reverse look like?

Try soaking in distilled water.You may be able to see the 1943 better,but the coin is beyond saving.

water or acetone soak may clear up the date question.
Can you post up an image (a closeup) of the date area?
