I know the easiest way to get the information I'm looking for is to go to the bookstore and look it up, but a lot of people on this site enjoy doing this sort of thing so I thought I would post here first.

I'm trying to access the value of a pile of foriegn coins I bought at a yard sale. I have a few items that I think have silver content but don't know for sure or I know they have silver content but I don't know how much in terms of ounces.

Here it goes

1940 australia 3 pence
1956 australia florin
1962 new zealand 3 pence
1964 new zealand 6 pence
1964 new zealand florin
1938 2 reich marks
1938 5 reich marks
1921 GB 3 pence
1942 GB 6 pence
1948 GB 1/2 crown
1962 ireland 3 pence
1899 canadian 5 cent piece
1959 nigeria 6 pence

Thanks!

These days, you don't even need to make an account to look at their database (which includes silver content, but not mintage or catalogue value). But for your specific coins:

1940 Australia 3 pence: sterling (.925 fine), .0419oz
1956 Australia florin: .500 fine, .3363oz
1962 New zealand 3 pence: cupronickel (no silver)
1964 New Zealand 6 pence: cupronickel (no silver)
1964 New Zealand florin: cupronickel (no silver)
1938 Germany 2 reich marks: .625 fine, .1607oz
1938 Germany 5 reich marks: .900 fine, .4016oz
1921 GB 3 pence: .500 fine, .0227oz
1942 GB 6 pence: .500 fine, .0455oz
1948 GB 1/2 crown: cupronickel (no silver)
1962 Ireland 3 pence: cupronickel (no silver)
1899 Canada 5 cent piece: sterling (.925 fine), .0346oz
1959 Nigeria 6 pence: cupronickel (no silver)
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
