Depicted on the obverse is the English legendary hero Sir Bevois. The phrase on the reverse translates to "for the public good".

The edge is marked, "PAYABLE AT I IORDANS DRAPER GOSPORT". The I's here probably ought to be taken in the Latin sense as representing J's.
