G'day! I'm a freshman college student majoring in computer science.
I started coin collecting in Christmas of 2012 when my father got me my first 20-30 coins. Among them were 2 Morgans, some
Walking Liberty halves, and some other pre-65 silver. I've come back to the hobby off and on through the years.
A few months ago I came back with a bang. I brought my US collection from about 50 coins to over 440. The bulk of my collection is pennies; I have one for each consecutive year from 1877-2023. My oldest, however, is from 1801. I'm attempting to get a penny for every year from 1793 to the present (including the 1787 Fugio cent.)
I plan to get a specimen from each year for all the other denominations as well. Once I get those, I shall collect one from each mint, and then one of each error/variant. It's an endeavor that will span decades, no doubt. Perhaps I'll still be collecting 100 years from now at the age of 118, rambling to my great-grandkids about the history of coin designs.
My other hobbies include metal detecting, conlanging (making languages), gaming, and programming. I'm also studying German.
