It's a judgement call, but I would say the queen is toned, while the flip side is tarnished to borderline damaged by something environmental. Whatever the case, it's not attractive.

This type of toning is commonly found on coins in the '67 red box sets. Over time the flocking in the case can cause some quite ugly toning.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I have to disagree with the other comments on this item. I find this coin very visually attractive. From an artistic point of view its stunning. Almost as if the toning mimics a wolf howling by moonlight.

I don't think the coin is ugly. A fitting description would be: "The Ice Queen and her Howling Wolf".
