Howdy all, it's been a minute since I posted but I have a question about grading and am looking for y'all's various opinions on the subject. I had this little beauty fall into my lap from a family member a little while ago. I've already convinced myself that it is worth sending it off for several months to go through the grading process (I have a batch of coins that PCGS has had for a good while). But my big conundrum is wether PCGS or NGC is the way to go with it. I see them as pretty much even but I've heard that some are better with certain series compared to others. I'm also considering the conservation option just to clean it up and make it the best it can be considering that it is worn down to about a 4 or 6 (my best guess, would love your thoughts on that as well) I'm unsure if I'm gonna flip it or hold on to it once it comes back, guess it will depend on what the market is like at that point since it will take a while, conservation or not. So, what is your experience? Is conservation worth it? Is it often with it but possibly not for this coin? Is this the exact coin that conservation is for? So many questions. On a side note, I just finished reading the Red Book on Peace dollars, what a story, no wonder it's my favorite coin. Thanks again, and, without further ado, here is the coin:

It's a nice G6 and worth sending out for grading. I don't see any issues that would require conservation. There are some light hairlines on the reverse but nothing worrisome.

Key date Walker, likely grades G6. I see original surfaces. Worthy to have in a a TPG holder.

No need for conservation.
Are you are seeing something that is not obvious in the photos that you think require conservation? If so, give it an Acetone bath - 100% pure Acetone for an hour or two.
BUT - as others call out - no visible signs that conservation is needed. Coin looks original and would straight G6-8

i'd call it G6. straight graded G6 coins retail for about $230 on average. I don't slab so can't comment on the best TPG to send it to. you need to determine based on that retail is it worth the grading costs. submitting multiple coins would help reduce that cost PCGS charges a minimum of $69 for a subscription other subscription levels include grading vouchers though so you could reduce these costs. add to the subscription cost, per coin grading cost which I think for this one might be $22, shipping & ins both ways (1-4 coins is $27 if the total value is under $1000) I'm not familiar with NGC costs. I think they are a little less

ANACS is the lowest cost of the big three and still a reputable grading service. They do not require a membership to send in coins. Just go to their web site for instructions on how to submit coins.

heres the deal on slabbing this one. based on the assessments here you're looking at a G6 grade regardless of which TPG it went to. the coin would probably retail for around $200-240 PCGS charges a minimum of $69 for a subscription other subscription levels include grading vouchers though so you could reduce these costs. add to the subscription cost, per coin grading cost which I think for this one might be $23 now as they raised their price, shipping & ins both ways (1-4 coins is $27 if the total value is under $1000) why chew up half the value of the coin by making them rich? either place the coin in an album with other walkers and fill the hole or buy some airtite's to protect the coin

ANACS grading would be $16 but there's a 5 coin minimum. Shipping would be $29-35. So if you had 5 coins you'd be in it for $23 per coin plus shipping from your end, but your problem could be having 5 coins that are worth grading. Just a relative cost for comparison.
