This coin is cleaned . Curious your grade thoughts minus being details . It's Coxe Variety I50/I47 plus sigma tested good and weighs good So I know it's real. Interesting doubling all over the reverse. Not a DDR so maybe Longacre Doubling? Regardless it's interesting. I'll admit I don't know much about this type of doubling . Definitely some doubling and harshly cleaned. My guess is Machine Doubling. Details could go XF or AU. Worth around $500 retail.

PCGS tends to straights grade Chop marks, from what I've seen NGC does not. high XF low AU coin. there are some die polish lines however mixed in are some scratches that are not from the mint i'll go with AU details (scratched) I think the one going from star 1 to the knee is the biggest culprit. Machine Doubling

I'm in agreement I think it has the look of a AU-50 coin I think it has nice eye appeal under less light but once it's under more light the scratches are noticeable. I just have wanted a chopmarked coin and I liked the overall look of this one and all the doubling was an interesting thing to me. I am pretty sure it would grade details at pcgs as well or I'd send it there . I'm not sure there qualifications for straight grading chopmarked coins but I can tell it's been wiped at the very least. What this coin has going for it is the chopmark looks neat . I like how the coin is not bent or that it's not heavily chopped or so cleaned like some of the merchants would do to them. The doubling is something different that I haven't seen on a non DDR variety . Plus it still has luster around the devices and around the Eagle and some around Liberty. I think it's going to get AU details chopmarked and cleaned though at NGC

from what I've seen with chopped coins, PCGS will for the most part give them a pass unless the chops are excessive or really affects the eye appeal of the coin or even damages the coin. I've seen some that are popping out the reverse of the coin. I think PCGS would call this one AU details(cleaned) chop marked. if the coin was not cleaned I think they would grade it straight as the chops are not over the line where they would call it damage

Good morning NGC says AU Details chopmarked They did not add the cleaned to the label like they do on some but Hairlines are visable. Still a nice coin Not sure what that mark is in front of her as I don't recall anything there before.

JasonKflo why did you decide to go with NGC when its pretty well known that they don't straight chopped coins? just curious. were you afraid PCGS would detail it for scratched/cleaned?
i guess if I thought it was cleaned NGC would be best choice and only get a chop mark designation which in my mind is better than cleaned/scratched

Panzaldi I see lots of scratches I don't think it was harshly cleaned and has nice luster but I figured I'd get AU details cleaned chopmarked at NGC and was thinking I'd get XF details cleaned chopmarked at pcgs I have another 77s Trade dollar I May send to pcgs so it's possible I'll try and cross this and see what they say since I'm not into it as much as it's worth.

i see your logic and like I said, i'd rather have it a detail chopmarked slab than a details scratched/cleaned slab. personally i'd leave her where she is
