Hi,

I live in the USA and collect British and Dutch coins as well. Wondering of banks here would have foreign coins like these to sell. Looking for some £1 coins to complete a set.

I mostly collect US coins which is easy to get but haven't asked them yet about British coins. I assume International banks and airports in big cities would more likely have that, but have not been to one of those-just my local bank.

I know ebay is a place, but with shipping it seems cheaper to go to the bank. LOL

Thanks for any help!
Marlies

I can't help you with rolls in the USA, but just to say, coins are not issued in rolls even here in the UK. New coins come out in sealed bags and all used coins are handled in standard bags.
For the £1 coins, if you are looking at anything 2017 and earlier, you will not get them from banks even in the UK. The new design bimetallic coins came out in 2018 and all previous £1 coins are now taken out of circulation whenever the banks get them. Shops will no longer accept them.

EML - please check my trade list. If there are any UK pound coins on it you want, please let me know quickly by sending a PM and I'll wrap them up and post them to you on Wednesday or Thursday as I am flying to Houston to join a cruise starting in Galveston on Friday!

Retail US banks are in the business of banking, not numismatics. Depending on location, a bank might have a few foreign coins you could get as part of an f/x transaction, but they're certainly not going to have stock for you to casually browse through.
