I am curious why you would want to send this in to be graded? The cost would likely take much of the value out of the coin. Also, I suspect the surfaces not to be original. They have a matte like finish and lots of hairlines as if it was exposed to a chemical cleaning.

I feel that those hairlines are more along the lines of improper alloy mixing at the mint, known as a woody, like wood-grain texture on copper coins. As to condition, looks anywhere from a 63-65 to my eyes, and no sign of the known DDOs that I know about... with captainkurt on possible chemical cleaning, but not too severe and probably done long ago, and yes, probably not a good candidate for slabbing for his reasoning above...

Nice example, yes. I have a few with a very similar look--grade-wise and subtle woody-like texture. I'm thinking MS62-64. Submission for grading is your call.

Nice example, but not worth grading.

regarding the surfaces, I'm not sure if this is natural or not. I can tell you that in order to be worth the slabbing costs that the coin would have to grade above 66 and PCGS shows 3 at that 66+ and none at 67. as for slabbing even if the coin did grade straight you are going to chew up the majority of the value of the coin in submission costs.
buy some airtite's or put it in an album

Nice color too! Sweet coin! Quote: I am open to the chemically cleaning, since the color and texture is something I am not used to seeing. This is a normal toning pattern for these, I've seen many like it. The coin needs nothing other than a rinse in isopropanol (I like 100%) and then acetone. Just to remove any invisible fingerprints and stuff.
