It's an ugly coin no doubt, but it's now my ugly baby. Not selling it. Not going to send it for any sort of restoration. I still greatly appreciate the unknown history of it. Thx, all.

Flowing Hair Dollars are coins that many collectors dream of owning in any condition, or any price range for that matter. I love the Flowing Hair design and wish we got dimes and quarters with it too. The flowing hair symbolized freedom, which makes it funny to me that we dropped that symbolism so quickly because we felt we needed to "improve" the design to something more ornate and traditional after 1-2 years. I get why many see Draped Bust as an improvement, but this just makes Flowing Hair coins more special to me--the misunderstood and underappreciated exercise in symbolism that kicked off our copper and silver coinage in the USA. I was ecstatic when I got my Flowing Hair dollar, and fully accept that I may never be able to upgrade mine. Just having one, though, feels like an accomplishment. I am glad you feel proud of your "ugly baby." Many, many collectors must envy it.

I don't condone coin doctorinig. But I think professional conservation services are something quite different.

The difference between "COIN DOCTORING "
and " PROFESSIONAL COIN CONSERVATION "..
The large size of the invoice you get !
NGC , PCGS , ANACS et al offer little more in the way
of miracles than YOU can achieve with proper knowledge and years
of experience .
That said there is no hope for fixing this pictured 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar .
The damage is due to metal flow .
