I appreciate that this is a terrible picture but I've only my phone, at the moment.

1978-D-US-Dime---A-Partial-Bit-Of-Legend-Missing-On-Left-And-Right-On-The-Obverse

A bit of the 'W' on the left edge of WE, and bit of the right lower loop of the 8 in the date seem to have merged in with the edge. Also, the inside of the D mintmark seems to be filled.

The reverse appears to be normal.

Are these known errors?

Everything you mention is common for dimes in the 1970s and 1980s: weak strikes and worn dies.

I concur with all of the above. And just for accuracy sake, IGWT is considered to be the motto, not the legend.

looks like a Greaser here. but don't blame your phone for bad images (unless it is a 30 year old flip phone) I use my phone and it produces great images (they were terrible at first, but got better with practice.)
