I purchased this tremisiss for $305. Since I purchased it about $100 cheaper than the average price, I am asking because I am suspicious of its authenticity.
Welcome to CCF! Sorry I'm not familiar with ancient gold coins to give an opinion. There are a lot of good and bad sellers on ebay. Below is long list of known fake sellers of ancient coins/artifacts, they sometimes change their name when caught. At least your seller offers 14 day returns and is not on the list. Unless you have experience buying ancient coins it might be better to buy from known trusted dealers like on Vcoins.com.
No need to apologize, your English is certainly much better than my Korean. As for the coin, can you give us the coin's purported identifying information? What coin did the seller claim it to be? Ruler? Region? Catalog number?
The seller doesn't have any of the obvious signs of being "fake." It's an old(er) account, opened in 2009. A number of verified transactions. Not located in China. These things don't clear the seller, but they are good initial signs.
Looks like a real Justinian I AV tremissis of Constantinople to me. The soft/incomplete strike is not unusual for the type. Can't speak as to the seller.
If they've been around since 2009 with a name like "ancientcoins100" and haven't made the FORVM list of bad sellers, then they're probably OK.
Note: just because a seller isn't "bad" does not necessarily mean the coin is therefore "good". Good sellers can sometimes sell bad coins, if it's a high quality copy and/or it's outside their field of expertise. But a good seller will care about their reputation: they will remove listings of fake coins if it is pointed out, they won't re-list a returned coin they know is fake, and they will refund anyone who bought a coin that later turns out to be fake.
Byzantine gold isn't my field of expertise, but if it was my money to gamble with, I'd be happy assuming the coin and seller were both OK.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
