Would the knock on the reverse rim or the aberration near the L of Liberty be enough to kick the coin into Details at PCGS? Any thoughts on cleaning or other problems that I haven't noticed?

I doubt it. Only question would be the surfaces and if the coin was cleaned. Photos are a little bright so can't get a true feel if cleaned or not.

I will take a few indirect sunlight images tomorrow.

I am reasonably certain that this is the FS-501 inverted mint mark variety. If the surface checks out, it's the first coin that I would consider submitting for grading and attribution. Not saying that's a definite, but the option is on the table.

Just look for the "bump" to be opposite the normal orientation. I think yours is indeed inverted.

way too much glare to determine surface originality.

XF45 sounds about right. to me the coin looks cleaned. better photos are required to determine that

Hm, disappointing to hear. I had wondered about cleaning since there was a bit of crud atop the R and in the crook of the 2. Still an uncommon variety and a worthy pick for $5.

58 but the obverse has a lot of chatter. I would say it could go either way on whether it is cleaned. I would net it down to 53 based on everything going on in the obverse based on these pictures.
