Hi,

Any feedback or thoughts on this 2000-D Quadricentennial Virginia State Quarter? Could the semicircle lines on the reverse be some sort of planchet defect or strike error?

It's only visible on the reverse side.

The hazy film looking marks make me think chemical/cleaning residue of some kind.

Thanks in advance!

To CCF! Not seeing any errors, just stains. PMD.

Thinking post-strike damage--very likely staining/residue.

I think you answered your own question. Hazy film chemical or cleaning residue.

the 2 arcs appear to be the same as the quarter - maybe 2 other quarters were resting on this one and stained it somehow.

Thank you all for your sage feedback.

@Dearborn - That is precisely what I was thinking - someone before me soaked some coins in a chemical and this one was on top of 2 other coins.
