I still say it is glue or something like it because you can see the O through it.

24 Hours in acetone didn't affect it so I doubt its glue and I don't think your seeing the 0 thru it I think you are seeing the shape of the 0

I appreciate your input oddguy. When you initially said glue I thought yeah could be that's why I soaked it in acetone and I realize the pics don't always show what we see. I think the one picture I just put on at an angle shows the feature best.

Thanks for the updated pictures, now it looks like a lam. sorry to be all over the place but your coin is an interesting one and I am just trying to give an optional opinion.
