Hello all,

I don't know if this is the right forum because I rarely post these type of buys...but I thought this one was interesting...

I bought these from a metals and coin dealer in Verona this morning.

In particular, I like the original owners notes on price...

(I usually post my best and worst buys but this one's a decent mid-tier buy; depending on the euro;usd rate I paid 7-9% below melt for this collection)

(I might be missing a photo but it's 30 90% quarters and 54 halves; the Whitman folders were bought at a shop in Cleveland)

I moved it out of the Variety and Error section.

Nice group!

Nice purchase below spot. Note the 1965-1968 quarters are not silver.

@1847, yes. I know. There are 30 silver quarters and a dollar in spending money.

Looks like most of the coins could benefit from an acetone bath and then placed in 2x2's.

@mister, from my quick look and count I think these are mostly bullion coins. There are one or two better date WLHs but not much beyond that.

I'll see how they look when I get home in Rome tomorrow and go from there.

Lots of nice silver coins. Some of those quarters with the tape on will need a bath in pure Acetone to remove the glue residue.

Major concern about tape holding coins in place. Start of a nice collection. Personally, I would give them all an acetone bath.

Thanks everyone, I am not sure I understand the benefit of these Whitman folders. Almost every coin has dark, black, unattractive toning on the reverse. I get the impression these weren't stored well but still...

Sure looks like the forum is in favor of acetone

Acetone bath and then a new Dansco album.

yep, a Dansco album for these would be a nice addition to these coins after a long bath in Acetone. The Whitman folders really aren't good enough for archival storage, plus the chems in the cardboard backing probably helped that reverse side darkening.

Nice purchase! Those quarters with tape can benefit from a pure acetone soak.

Nice lot of bullion silver. I don't see much of anything with a numismatic premium - but you can't go wrong with silver below melt.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art
