This steel cent is underweight at 2.401g. There are die doubling of some letters, and 943 in the date. A die crack from rim to hem of the coat has pushed the rim out a bit. Opinions on weight and if it has value?

Your coin might have been struck on a rolled thin planchet. Nice Die Crack.

Doubling may (may...) be the result of Machine Doubling.

Bit of an outlier, not unusual.

looks like DDD on the date, nice die crack - it looks like it returned back to the rim, so a pre Cud?

For most of the year these weighed 2.6g - it was late in the year when the weight went to 2.754g
So if this is one from the 'most of the year' category then it is only slightly underweight. The low end should be about 2.559g your is out of spec just a little could be due to wear or a rolled thin blank from the stock steel.

Also your cent seems to have a corroded/pitted surface also accounting for the low weight.

Or it was rolled thin and nobody cared - there's a war on, don't you know.
