Greetings! I found this 1928 Indian Head nickel that has the date worn down.
The remaining foundation is very wide. I cannot find photos online of a 1928 nickel with the foundation being that wide.

Plus, there is this anomaly that looks like some kind of strike error, or strike through.
There's this "bar" starting from the top of the "2" and slicing diagonally downward through the "8" in the date.
Also, under the "2", to the right of it, there appears to be a "block" strike error.

On the reverse side, the "FIVE CENTS" lettering also looks usually fat.

I cannot find any images of this 1928 nickel online. There really isn't a lot of images of it online to compare it to.
Is this some kind of post mint error? Mechanical error?!

Just circulation flattening, I think.

Thanks staff for moving my topic to the proper forum.
Aside from being new to this forum, I have an eye condition which makes it very difficult for me to navigate through unfamiliar websites.

I plan on getting a coin microscope so that I can take better images of my coins.

I understand what people are saying about the date and letters being flattened.

However, I cannot find any images online where the date and letters are flattened to that degree.

I also cannot find any images of some kind of line in the shape of a bar, going through two different umbers on the date.

Even with my poor image condition, you can clearly see a raised shelf in the shape of a rectangle bar starting from the top of the "2" and angling downward diagonally piercing the number "8", and you can see the bar "raised shelf" between the two numbers, and in the middle of the lower part of the number "8".

If it were not for the fact that:

1. I cannot find any images of this 1928 Nickel with in of the numbers or letters being that flat

2. That bar that goes through the "2" and "8" in the date

... I would assume what everyone is saying, that the numbers and letters are worn down flat.

At the very least, it does not explain the raised plateau that runs through the "2" and the "8".

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply!!

I tried playing with the colors from your image but there is just not enough detail to know what that is. You will need a brighter light source when taking photos.
