Very nice set Ken! It never fails that when I see someone's 7070, I get the itch to start one. I think i'll finally take the plunge and work out a budget to finish one over a few years time! Thanks for sharing, always enjoy pics of these sets!

That is funny, because I get the urge to hide mine from view; it is not worthy!

you seem to be missing the last page. Where is the gold page? It's not copmplete without the gold page.

Actually, the gold page is an add-on for the 7070. You've got to order it separately. However, if you've got $6K+ to front me for the gold page coins or a few extras lying around, I'll complete that page it and take a picture for you. Deal?

Someday, perhaps...

Ken

Nice pics!

Seeing somebody else's 7070 also makes me want to start one myself, but the gold page scares me a bit.

Nice set! I'm also working on my type set, but am emphasizing the gold page. As a matter of fact, I've made some modifications to the original DANSCO to accomodate classic heads and commemorative

It's not perfect, but it is unique. I'm still in the market for a $3 princess, kind of like I have been for the last year...lol.

The gold page is a major financial commitment. At least for me. That's why I am starting with the silver/copper base 7070. As mentioned, the 7070 does not come with the gold page and I think many collectors work on just the silver/copper set.

Wow. Nice. Makes me want to do the gold coins too someday. I just need to figure out how to pay for it. It seems like it's going to cost at least $6,000 to do the gold page. Does that sound right? Gold is expensive...but it's also an investment, so I can see completing this someday when the kids stop draining my account so fast!

For the record, I do not have there gold page either. I did add a page to the binder, to fill it out (the pages are loose otherwise). One might be surprised what that page is for!

Negative!

Maybe after I add a few more coins to it. Despite having had the album for 15 years now, it is still rather sparsely populated. I am generally averse to upgrades (because of sentimental attachments), but I might have to upgrade some pieces in my 7070 when I get serious about it again.
Rest in Peace

Yes, gold is expensive. However, it looks like most of your coins are in the VF/XF range. In these grades, most common date gold coins sell for close to melt, so I could see one completing this page for under 5K if you wanted to at todays prices. I'm not sure I see gold as an investment, but I do see it as a potential hedge. This is how I reason spending more money on gold than other coins. There are two factors working to give the coins value(bullion and numismatic). So if the coin market goes down the crapper, but bullion remains strong; then the coins still have value. All this said though, I really like gold.

BTW, the rest of your type set is much closer to being done than mine KenKat. I still have about a dozen holes. I'm going for an XF or better set.

I purchased the gold page separate right after I bought the album (some come with the gold page already but most don't, and even if it comes with the gold page you still may have to put it in yourself and the sellers are just adding it as a package)The beauty about doing a set is you can do it anyway you wish, I have seen one filled with nothing but coins that had holes in them, and I have seen another with the lowest grade coins they could find so its completely up to the person building the set to what they want to accomplish with the set so don't be scared off because one persons looks one way and you don't want to start one because you are afraid you won't be able to do one like theirs.

the above goes for you also jbuck, its what makes you happy not what someone elses album looks like. These albums are so hard to complete (no matter what grade and condition you are looking for) that they should be displayed with pride no matter what because it takes quite a bit of dedication to actually complete one of these and if I am not mistaken you have more than 1 7070 album and that is quite a feat if you ask me because its all I can do to finish this one I have

I agree! Mine is not as bad as I say it is, at least not in my eyes. It is really my way of giving props to those, like KenKat and yourself, that have patiently created a work of art. It is inspirational.

No, I just have the one; and it was pretty much started by accident.

WOW those are some great sets. It inspires me to start on one myself. Right now I am focusing on complete sets. I have started several and need to narrow it down to a favorite to get serious about completing one. It is always tough to make complete sets since there is always atleast a couple keys with sky high prices.

Some day...Some day....
