Bought this as an oddity find it kind of interesting it appears to be a proof strike fantasy piece or a pattern figured I'd share and see what your thoughts are. Seems to be an off metal strike and not actual gold, weight is 7.24g it's a bit bigger than a nickel and smaller than a quarter. Its also pretty thick if measurements are wanted ill have to get them later.

That's kinda what I'm thinking as well. I do find it odd the standard of quality to which they made this piece. It looks to be actually struck with very good quality dies. Aside from the lettering on the reverse and obverse it's pretty convincing.

The lettering looking slightly different could also be a result of the heavy polishing they did to it so kinda hard to tell for me

What would the (5.) on the reverse represent.

What would the (5.) on the reverse represent.

So maybe they were 5. for a DOLLAR (20¢)

Actually, you can get them from a Chinese website in all the years Peace dollars were minted (without the digitally added COPY).
