I had the coin for over 2 decades on a 2x2 and going back through them now , I don't recall putting it on the 2x2 these way , and I didn't know that War Nickel would get that type of corrosion ( I know they're only 35% silver ) . I got a better color on the silver coins now the're no so reddish.

I'm thinking splatter from a welder? That looks like a burn spot at k10 on the reverse?

I popped the bubble in the top part of the E and one dot marked with the arrows , so they're bubbles , and the big blunt on the bottom of the P it's under the silver coating ( I know it's not silver coating) but it's not from a welding machine , the burned part could be from a solder point getting it hot , but as you can see the bubbles are all over the coin not jus in that spot . it weight 4.8 gr.

I would have thought possibly a rusted die, until you depressed one, so not sure. With the impurities we've seen on the WWII nickels though, I suppose anything is possible.

Just a thought. The black spot on the rim on both sides looks like spot welder prongs. The copper on the P looks like it came from one of the prongs. Just spitballen.
