@coin, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please post the weight and diameter of this piece? Based on the casting bubbles and soft details, I suspect that it is made from aluminum.

It weighs 95g, and is 2 1/4" diameter, and about 3/16" thick.

Thx for providing those details about the size and weight. It has a passing similarity to the Lafayette Dollar (conjoined heads on one side and equestrian statue on the other), but isn't close enough to be a match. Hopefully someone else can weigh in with their thoughts as I'm coming up empty.

Here it is in copper. I saw some others struck in silver. I did not come across one yet in white metal, but I only did a quick search.

This example doesn't give the metal but it has the same sort of fabric as yours.

Many thanks to you all. I'm guessing this is a reatrike.based on the metal used, but the wear on itakea.me think it may be an early version. Not worth much, but a cool piece of history.

I would say it is a cast copy and a poor one at that.

It may be contemporary. Doing casts for medals was no longer common in the eighteenth century. But there are some. Large medals were hard to strike. Casts were cheaper for making many to distribute widely. They came out as bad casts but were good enough for the purpose of advertising the person or event. The ones to offer to the important people were struck in gold or silver or copper. Depended on their importance. The ones to give around to the population were cast copies in some base metal.
