I'm thinking of maybe buying this coin (1909-S VDB). What do you folks think of: 1. the coin itself, and 2. the ICG Grading Service <-- This one is important - are they reliable and reputable? ebay item number: 395364904676Now If I do buy it, I'll be cutting it out of the slab for my Dansco album.. Thought? Comments?

IMO I would ask for clear photos of the coin itself. All I can really see with these seller photos are glare from the slab.
I can't comment on ICG as a grading service, hopefully someone can help with that.

I like him! This guy has a Youtube channel. Maybe you can look up his channel and see how he bought it? He usually has a rap-up after his purchases...? Good luck and keep us posted! smat

When I began my journey down the numismatic rabbit hole, I remember talking w/ a coin dealer in my area regarding TPG's. He jokingly referred to ICG as (I Can't Grade) as reputable but (PCGS, NGC & ANACS) are more desirable. Good luck on the '09 S VDB, looks like a nice coin.

Looks like a pretty decent coin from the available pics. But it just sold--did you buy it?

ICG is an excellent TPG, especially for Lincolns. In fact, I agree with their grading more than PCGS or NGC! You can trust that this coin is accurately graded.

Congratulations on the purchase. Not much to quibble on a PCGS AU-53 1909-S VDB ... but those small obverse carbon spots are a teeny bit distracting. Show us some photos when it's residing in your Dansco.
