Hopefully an expert can help you more with this , dimes just happened to be "my thing".
As far as I know there was never a 1799 dime made mate , its not listed in the Red Book anyway.

Thats pretty much how I knew it was dime size CH , the dimes of that period do not have a denomination on them.
Only problem is there was no 1799 according to my RedBook ?

I dont know..but I found this link
http://www.usacoinshop.com/1799-bust-dime.html
why have a link if the dime doesn't exist? Why is it not in the RedBook..so many questions..lol..

At a guess if it is dime size which it appears to be it was probably made in the knowledge 1799 doesn't exist.
Its a clever item , shows circulation wear and doesn't have copy written anywhere.
Is it a fake..probably.Im no expert and can only go with what the books tell me.An expert will come along for sure.Nice coin no matter what the outcome

Actually for all coins of that time (ex the 1/2c, 1c) there were no denomination markings.

"if I did not measure wrongly, the diameter is about 4cm."

That makes it the size of a quarter , again as far as I know there were no 1799 quarters and quarters of that period would have the denomination on it.
