i am looking for the scarcer date Seated dimes, not the super expensive CC mints but the hard to find S mints from 1856-1867 and a few early O mints anyone interested in trading their scarcer ones for more common dates ? obviously not one for one, but some kind of trade that we could both be happy with ? I also have some common date quarters and a few halves.

I have quite a few Seated dimes, but you should read the rules before posting. You have to post 50 decent posts before buying/selling/trading. Then, you can create a thread in the 'want to buy' or 'want to trade' sections of the site.

Our rules are not meant to discourage, but rather encourage participation. Coin Community was founded and is being directed as a resource for the newer collector. It's our wish to be an environment where the rookie numismatist can safely and reliably learn about this great hobby, developing their skills with encouragement and participation from the more experienced collectors. Therefore, we tend to hold a fairly strict line as regards exchanges of value. Seateddime48174, I don't for a minute believe that you've come here for any but honorable reasons, and it's difficult to imagine someone wishing to narrow their focus as tightly as yours without being a true coin nut. However, the rules are the rules and I strongly encourage you to share your knowledge with the rest of our community by way of establishing your qualification to engage in trading here.

Fair enough, and the last thing I want to see you doing is artificially inflating your postcount; that's something we obviously notice and react to. There isn't actually a whole lot of commerce here within your specialty, anyways; the majority of our membership whose interests coincide with yours tend to be 7070 types (like me) rather than Seated specialists. With that said, I see a pretty common trend among specific Seated specialists that they accumulate knowledge about other Seated issues along the way which surprises even them. Kinda like Large Cent guys starting on Braided Hair types and realizing, years later, that they've collected the whole set of Classic Heads. Keep in mind, also; you can make just as important a contribution here by furthering your own knowledge through asking questions. Far more people read a given thread than post in it, and we have people here who can expertly advise you on subjects as diverse as coin photography, ebay selling and Counterfeit Detection.

well the reason I stopped by to check you all out is because of the artificial posts on the PCGS boards, (can I mention that by name) ? I'm not interested in posting just for the sake of, thats the main reason I strayed from the "other board" and I understand I will have to establish myself, hopefully I can share what I know and I'm sure I could learn a thing or two. already I see there are others that share my interest ! how many of you guys are from the seated boards ? I dont know if I would consider myself a coin nut superdave, I just got a thing for the girl on the rock !

Good luck on your quest for Seated dimes. I sold a beautiful XF/AU 1856s dime in 1978 for $100 as part of a group of coins I sold to raise money for the down payment on my first house. I wish I could buy that coin back now for sentimental reasons, my dad had found it in circulation as a kid working in my grandfathers restaurant. Of course with what I sold the house for 22 years later (have to love Ca real estate during that time frame), I came out way ahead but still wish I could get the coin back.
