Not sure why but I love this coin. I'm just learning about grading so any opinions would be appreciated. Going by the Red Book and PCGS, I see worn areas on cap, hair and the drape on the obverse; on the reverse the high edges of the eagle's wings look worn and some of the leaves. Would I be in the ball park thinking it might be graded a 20-25? Also would the dark toning detract from the value? Thanks for your help. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

Gorgeous coin. I have about 8 or 10 capped bust half's but only 2 certified by pcgs. I think you're grading conservative. To me it's at least a 30 or 35. The coloring helps the argument that it's original so it would maybe enhance the value to me. I love that design. I'm certainly no expert on capped bust but I'm a fan.

Small letters really stand out. It looks at least VF30 to me. Maybe a bit better. The color/toning don't hurt unless you had a flood light on for the images. Nice piece.

I'm at XF-40 and the color looks fine to me. The reverse in particular has a lot of detail and shows only minimal wear. A very nice quarter you have there.

What is going on with the Reverse rim, 12 to 6? Is it just lighting

Many thanks for the help. As an absolute learner I appreciate all suggestions. Glad she's even nicer than I thought. Here's a different angle showing the rim. DOCC, do you see a problem? John1. Thanks for moving the post, I'll look more carefully next time. I wanted to edit the topic to include "quarter" but couldn't find the edit icon. Maybe just my baby boomer eyes but where exactly do I find it?

Much clearer shot, lighting on first gave the appearance of textured (ground scrape, etc.)

VF-35, very solid example of the type!
