Hello friends. I just purchased this coin raw from a local church rummage sale. I typically collect Morgan's so this is out of my wheel house. The coin appears to be correct, and is great condition. Has nice reddish color to it.

My questions are: Any issues with authenticity or genuine concerns? I plan on sending it off to be graded. I live local to ICG, are they ok to use or should this go to PCGS? Good enough for CAC? Your thoughts on to what it may grade.

Thank you all for any help on this one.

I'm thinking not legit. That 'die chip' on the left wheat stalk is an indicator of a known counterfeit.

Wow so not genuine. These fakes have gotten really good then. Weighs exact. Put it through electronic tester and it checked out. I don't have best eyesight. My concern with VDB being off, though was not sure. Good news, I bought it with a credit card, so can get money back. Will reach out lady who sold it to me first.

Agree this is fake rum n cola. My hopes are that you did not pay over a dollar for this. Consider whatever you paid as a donation to the church. It is a nice conversation piece though. BTW, don't bother sending it in for a TPG.

This can't be an authentic coin the coloring of way off for a coin that was minted in that era - should be more bronzy not bright copper like this.
how about better images properly cropped and a close up of the date/MM area and the VDB on the reverse?
