Came across this quarter and seen a whole lot.. I seen doubling in the "F" on the word "OF" on the obverse as well as doubling on the las "A" of "AMERICA". What has me king of excited are the "craters" on top of Washington's head and under the last half of "AMERICA". I'm really hoping I actually found something this time that's worth you guys educating me on. As ALWAYS, THANK YOU to EVERYONE here that have been patient with my ignorance to errors and varieties. I've looked all over the internet trying to find an error similar to the ones on this coin before I posted this. Well, hopefully they're errors. Who knows, they could be a new variety? Not trying to get too far ahead of myself my apologies.. what exactly is going on with this coin?

I do not see any doubled anything, the areas you described on obv. look like damage. You are really trying so, do not give up. Thanks for sharing.

the marks on the head is damage, but the one in the fields, I'm not too sure, It looks deep - deep enough to expose the copper core if it were damage. Also the the right leg of the 'A' is struck into this void.
If it was hit and dented, I would expect to see some sort of damage on the reverse in that location (which I don't)

So what is it? a struck through object? defective planchet, or is it just plain damage?

Dearborn, I was thinking the same thing, I can see the head being damaged, expected it tbh lol but the way the "A" just lays in that "crater" like as if the coin some how gotten damaged before the actual strike. I'm still learning and know better now than to just blurt things out without knowing lol but tbh Dearborn, I'm with you with the "A" guessing I gotta do more research. Thank you all so much for another lesson, god bless everyone

I'm with Dearborn on this one. It's reminiscent of 2 zinc pennies I haver that I never figured out what happened.

i saw what dearborn is talking about too. I wonder if it could be some sort of Feeder Finger Damage, and then after stamping, the debris caused the damage on the head too?
