Hey all I'm new here, but I have known of this forum for a while, come across it all the time, but I just decided to sign up because of what I think Ive found. I decide to search through some old wheat pennies I had stored away for a while, and while using my usb micro scope I came across this 1953 S penny, its not in very good shape but I would say vg-f corroded condition, but what caught my attention was the mint mark; while looking at the coin under 200x mag, and it looks like the S had been re-punched either on top of a inverted S or a letter 8, if you look closely you can see that there is a bridge connecting the bottom left and top right of the S and if trace outline it flows as a figure 8, now it could just be my eyes, but it does look like a re-punched mark and possibly a double die date, look at the side of the 1and the and the top left of the 3. I have searched for any mint variety errors online on the 1953s, other then the close mint mark to date, couldnt really find much other then that and the 1955 DDO, 1954 RMPs and so one, but again not much of the 1953. Thank you for reading and any info will be appreciated.
