I like using cash when I shop because of the change, and I always hope for pennies. I got a 1944 D a few days ago when grocery shopping and this 1972 yesterday. This one catches my eye because it may be doubling. What do the experts think?

Your coin is showing Machine Doubling on the date. Not a DDO. You also have to watch out for Master Die Doubling, which confuses a lot of collectors for an actual DDO. https://doubleddie.com/144822.html https://doubleddie.com/384301.html

Really need to see closer-in pics to make a determination. There's a good chance Machine Doubling may be in-play, but cannot really tell--in my opinion.

Here are some close ups. It's pretty banged up and it is hard to get zoomed in without pixelating.

those are not close ups - they are just cropped from the original image. Retake some new images and use the zoom on your camera to get in closer.

Closer-in and sharp images will reveal what may or may not be happening.
