The US Mint wants to end mutilated coins exchange partly due to foreigners sending in fakes. Wow, seems like even mutilated coins are faked.

Good Article. IMHO, the mint made the right move. The whole thing seems to be a waste of taxpayer $ if they have to sort out the counterfeits. Thank you for sharing,

Unlike many other countries, banks in the US are not obligated to redeem, accept or exchange mutilated coins. This means that once the Mint's program is formally cancelled, no avenue of redemption will be available and a bent or mutilated coin would only be worth scrap metal value.
