*** Edited by Staff to Add Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***Hello all! This is my first post/question about a possible coin error (or is this a variety?), but I think it might be a DDO. The penny isn't in the best shape, so I'm also wondering, if it is a DDO, is it in good enough shape to submit for 'official' grading? Since I'm new to this, I'm open to feedback on my photos, as well. Right now, just using my phone, so not sure if the quality is on point for review. And the color is off on the profile pic. Thanks in advance! Edited by Archival-Monk 05/14/2024 4:18 pm

Looks like Machine Doubling to me but let's wait until one of the professionals has a look for a more definitive answer.

Agree--that's classic Machine Doubling, not a DDO. In my opinion, not a good candidate for grading submission.

@arch, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @cent and @ijn that you have a nice example of Machine Doubling for this cent. It was more common in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but is still seen today. You can tell because it is steplike and causes the design elements to become thinner.

Thanks for the feedback and clarification! I perused the Machine Doubling link/gallery, and after looking at all of the examples, I can see how my penny fits in that category. So I can continue to learn, would you say this is a 'push doubling'? Or, @ijn1944, when you say it's a 'classic' Machine Doubling, are you identifying it as a 'classic doubling', or saying that it's just a good example of Machine Doubling?

to the CCF This is push doubling which is a form of Machine Doubling. I went through a bag of 68s that about 300 0f them look like this.
