I like this coin because I have yet to find the matching p/s version of this Wheat cent but I have something still to hunt for. I have yet to find a 1959-s lincoln memorial as well. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Pigeonman333rd, The mint did not make any S minted cents in 1959. Your 1943 should be zinc plated steel core not tin.It also looks like acid damage. John1

good luck on finding that '59-S Memorial cent (they weren't produced) and the '43 cent is light die to acid erosion. But still a nice coin..

C'mon, guys!
Just give it a little time and someone in China will come out with all the 1959-S Memorial cents you could ever want.

Is the first coin you posted supposed to be a 1959-D Wheat cent?

nice catch nfine! Not sure how I missed that.
@op: did you mix up your images?
Can you post up that first coin using a mirror so we can see both sides in the same image?

Quote:Is the first coin you posted supposed to be a 1959-D Wheat cent? ...that was my thought, too, as I just read this. 1959-D Wheat cent? that can't be authentic. of course, most Wheat cent collectors know the Wheat cent reverse's final year was 1958. I've never heard of a '59-D wheatie. maybe the poster could oblige with Dearborn's mirror pic request, and maybe some better-lighted pictures. let's have a better look at it. edit: additionally, maybe this topic belongs in a different forum?
