I have this very nice 1956 quarter, but I noticed the second A in AMERICA looks weak. I then checked a 1964-D that I have and that looked a bit weak as well, but not as bad as the 1956. Is this normal, or just a Greaser maybe?

Could be a slight Greaser.

The ICA on the 56 looks like it may have taken a hit.
Looks kinda flattened out.

In my opinion, not terribly uncommon. The reverse was not always struck in a razor-sharp fashion. The last A will occasionally have a scalloped-like appearance.

I'm with ijn mostly - most of my early quarters are a bit weak in that area, But it also looks a bit flattened out too. (Look how small the center of the 'A' is compared to the first one.)

Thank you everyone for your input. So it seems that it may be common.

Assuming there are no rubs, I would go better than that. MS63 maybe?

Here's some more pics. I've darkened them slightly to take away some glare. Hope that helps.

I still do not see any indication of wear, so I will stick with MS63. The bag marks do not seem distracting enough to merit a lowly MS60.
