I got this one in an error collection I bought. While I know it's a struck through coin, it just seems hard to image what got in there. Big hunks and wide smeary stuff struck through on both sides of the coin and even across the rim. Coin weighs 3.12g so it's all there. 1970-D Lincoln Memorial cent mint error - struck through

Very cool looking for sure. You said this was part of a collection that you bought, are these possible to find in circulation? As well as some of the other examples that you have showed us recently?

Interesting, almost looks like an obverse indent but that diameter is too small. The reverse struck through feature looks like it may have design features in it. Have you looked at that closely?

Thanks for the great replies! Let's see, first, the answer is yes you can find this kind of stuff in circulation. But the more obvious the error the more likely it gets pulled out so you have to look at a lot of coins to find some. The capped die strike I posted I found in an old unopened roll, and going through those is probably more productive than just bank rolls since no one has ever really looked at the coins. The no date lamination and 1941 DDO-002 were just in a bag of circulated wheats I bought off a guy I met up with at a coin show, so yes there are still things to be found in wheat bags. CoinHI I did look down in that crater, and while there is some interesting texture I can't make anything out of it. Could have been almost anything, but it is one of the deepest struck through coin I've seen. And Dearborn, I continue to be impressed with just how many error and variety coins there are floating around out there. Just poking around in a bag last night I found a 1915 with a nice reverse struck through, a 1952 with the big obverse pre Cud RCD-05 and a puzzling 1951 D. Hmm, I should post that one. Point is there are lots to be found!

Awesome! Thank you tropicalbats. Hearing that is great incentive to me and hopefully other newer collectors to keep searching knowing they are out there to be found.
