And your point is? (just kidding) This has got to be the greatest year for the Lincoln Cent, with all of the new designs, release places to go to and the news surrounding the Lincoln Cent. We also have the NEW 2010 design to look forward to.

I realize I may in the minority here but I am not a Lincoln Cent collector (at least not seriously) and I find myself avoiding the Modern US coins forum more because it is so cent-centric. Would a separate forum ever be considered? There, I said it. You can all abuse me now for it. :)

Texas Trader, why not just join us here on the DARK SIDE! Lincoln cents really are addicting once you get started. They aren't always really valuable but there are so many "little gems" out there for the taking. It is the cheapest form of treasure hunting you can do.

I am not a Lincoln Cent collecter either, I tried once going through roll after roll of coins to find nothing that was special, I would collect early cents (before memorial) but I dont think I will try to get a complete set going...I just think there are many other series I would want to collect before the Lincoln Cent...Maybe some of you guys on here could change my mind

cownas22 - Here's the thing, if you don't enjoy collecting a series, you should avoid it. There's no joy to collecting when you're not having fun doing. Somebody should not have to convince you, do it for the love or it's just work. The Lincoln series is the most complicated series of all coin collecting. If you don't enjoy it, it's going to be frustrating because there's so many nuances to it. Personally, that is what attracted me to it....I love a good challenge. Also, on a low grade level, it's pretty inexpensive....which I think draws a good number of people.

I have been a collector of Canadian coins for the past 100 years and looked for something new. I just started collecting these U.S. Lincoln csnts within the past year. I never knew they even existed. Someone told me they started minting them 20 years ago, WOW I've got a lot of ketchin up to do. Can someone send me their MS-66, P.C.G.S. spares? Glenn Pinto

Badthad- I agree, which is basically why I have kept a distance from the lincoln cents. I inherited alot of wheaties and Indianheads, Ienjoy them. Maybe like you said I would be best not to collect something I am not passionate about.

Like many others here I am not a Lincoln collector but somehow I still have a few thousand of them. Obviously I don't hate them. Really only missing a few key dates in the wheats - SVDB, 22 and I would really like to have a 55 DDO. Now THAT'S a cool Lincoln. I'm a collector that rarely passes up a good deal that I can afford. Imagine my surprise when I started looking at Lincoln values a year or so ago and realized I had multiples of coins like the 10,11,12,13 and 14S as well as 22D and 24D. Even a few 31S and over a half a roll of VDBs. All were bougth because the price was right. Now I'm in a position where I have to pay closer attention to ALL series' and world coins to an extent. Are Lincolns hot? Yes, but really they have ALWAYS been - just hotter now. I am leery of the 2009 though. We sell them at work. We charge a premium of course. We're paying a premium but they are starting to trickle in. A few rolls here and a few rolls there. I just wonder how many people will be disappointed when the get a roll at the bank for 50 cents after having paid us $8 for a roll. Oh well, won't be the first time with a modern issue.

I agree that the mint has gone overboard with cents this year...coins in general! They sure must be making money hands over fists!!
Wait until the 95% coppers come out in the special sets and there are only 50,000 of them!! You better have your billfold ready if you want one!!
